Objective: To analyze the perception of undergraduate nursing students regarding the clinical simulation experience concerning the care of elderly patients in palliative care with dyspnea. Methods: A methodological study was conducted in July 2023 with a sample of eight undergraduate nursing students. The following questionnaires were used: Sociodemographic Profile, Satisfaction and Self-Confidence in Learning Scale, Simulation Design Scale, and Debriefing Experience Scale. Descriptive statistics were used. Results: In terms of satisfaction and self-confidence, the most relevant domain was satisfaction with learning. Regarding simulation design related to educational practices and importance for the student, the highest average was for realism. In the debriefing experience, the best average for educational practices was appropriate teacher guidance, and regarding importance for the student, the best average was for the domain of thoughts and feelings. Analyzing the averages, the average for satisfaction and self-confidence in learning was 58.86. Regarding the simulation design in educational practices, the score was 68.29, and what is important to the participant was 97.57. High averages, where educational practices reached 96 and what is important to the student reached 97.57 points out of 100 (the total score of the instrument), were identified in the debriefing experience, where educational practices and what is important to the student were considered. Conclusion: The study results confirm that simulation promotes the integration of theoretical knowledge with practice in a critical and reflective way, allowing students to develop autonomy in decision-making.
